In the 1800s, Brighton developed as a fashionable seaside health resort, and to this day is an extremely popular mecca for tourists, beach lovers and revellers of all age groups. ‘London-by-Sea’ is one of the best known nicknames for Brighton.and the town has a population of near 300,000. Brighton, now known also as Brighton & Hove, is known for one of the most famous seaside piers in The UK, the Royal Pavilion, distinctive for it’s Indian appearance, the aquarium, nightclubs and some 400 restaurants.
Bognor Regis, another well -known Sussex town and seaside resort, famous for it’s Butlins holiday camp, was originally known just as ‘Bognor’, and as a settlement actually dates back as far as the 7th century AD, and as a resort since the late 1800s. The population of Bognor Regis is currently around 63,855, which includes Felpham and Aldwick.. Other things Bognor is famous for…..The annual and very quirky Birdman Festival which has been there since 1978.
