🚨 A Dragon, A Boy… And A Battle for Belonging!
Hey, it’s Geoff Carter from the UK Talk Radio Breakfast Show. Let me ask you this… when was the last time a book truly made your heart soar? 🥹 Crimson Wings – The Boy Who Flew by B.T. Skylark did exactly that for me.
Set in smoky, war-torn 1940s London, this story follows Henry Portwhistle — a lonely, misunderstood boy who finds something incredible on the banks of the River Thames… an egg. Not just any egg. Inside is Crimson – a dragon, long thought lost to legend. 🐉💫
Together, they escape into the skies, chasing freedom, friendship, and the feeling of finally belonging. But when the government catches wind of a dragon sighting, Henry’s fight to protect his only family begins…

Meet B.T. Skylark
B.T. Skylark is a British author based on the South Coast, whose writing explores themes of belonging, difference, and quiet courage. Although he only recently began putting pen to paper, the story behind Crimson Wings: The Boy Who Flew has lived in his imagination since childhood — a time when dragons felt safer than people, and stories were a way to make sense of the world.
As a neurodivergent writer, B.T. draws on personal experiences of feeling out of step with others, channelling that into characters who are often overlooked, misunderstood, or quietly extraordinary. His debut children’s novella combines historical fiction with fantasy, offering young readers a tale of bravery, empathy, and the power of being yourself — even when the world expects something else.
