Why This Book Should Be on Your Kindle Now
Geoff Carter here from The flagship, UK Talk Radio Breakfast Show, and I’ve just finished reading Be Green Heroes: Fighting Widespread Misinformation and Pursuing Environmental Literacy by Sae Chang. Let me tell you, this isn’t just a book—it’s a wake-up call, a battle cry, and a roadmap for anyone who cares about sustainability, especially in the textile industry.
Whether you’re passionate about green living or just starting to learn about sustainability, Be Green Heroes will challenge everything you thought you knew. This book takes on the massive issues of misinformation and greenwashing with the precision of a laser and the force of a hurricane. It’s essential reading for anyone who wants to make truly informed decisions.
Breaking Down the Myths About Sustainability
What makes Be Green Heroes stand out is how it dismantles the myths and half-truths that dominate conversations around sustainability. Sae Chang doesn’t shy away from calling out major textile brands and even global organizations that perpetuate greenwashing practices.
Chang walks readers through:
- The real environmental costs of various fabrics and materials.
- Why so-called “green” marketing often misses the mark—or intentionally misleads.
- Practical tips on how to care for and dispose of textiles in a genuinely eco-friendly way.
This isn’t just finger-pointing, though. Chang offers actionable insights, helping readers understand how to separate legitimate eco-practices from superficial PR stunts.
Science-Backed Solutions, Not Buzzwords
In an age where “sustainability” is a trendy buzzword, Be Green Heroes restores credibility by focusing on hard science. The book doesn’t sugarcoat the challenges, but it also doesn’t leave you feeling powerless. Instead, it equips you with tools to scrutinize claims, question narratives, and make choices that truly reduce environmental harm.
Chang dives deep into topics like:
- The lifecycle of textiles, from production to disposal.
- How everyday actions like washing clothes impact sustainability.
Who Needs to Read This? (Hint: Everyone)
Whether you’re an industry professional, a student, or simply someone trying to do your bit for the planet, this book offers value. It’s particularly eye-opening for consumers who want to make sustainable choices but feel overwhelmed by conflicting information.

I enjoyed the book a lot. it’s well organized, researched and written. I like how the author really chose to focus on a key aspect of envirnomental waste like textiles or clothes. it’s crazy how much pollution the clothing industry creates and all for clothes that might just fill a closet for no reason, point being it’s a waste. I think the amount of clean water polluted in this industry alone should be enough to shut the practices down or improve them, however, not much has changed over the years. I am stoked the author wrote about this and is bringing awareness to a major issue worldwide.
