She had the opportunity to experience one of the best musical eras in the British capital, as she was really at the right place, at the right time when Lovers Rock was exploding! While she was still in school, Millicent joined a group called Simplicity (of which she was one of the founding members). They released a few popular songs that still captivate Lovers Rock and reggae fans to this day! In addition, Millicent’s natural talent for poetry means she has a treasure trove of meaningful lyrics that she turns into inspiring storytelling songs.

Millicent’s diverse range of influences included amazing artists such as Diana Ross, The Supremes, Minnie Ripperton, and other soul divas from the “golden age.” Still, she had something unique to offer due to her eclectic background and wide range of musical influences. She joined a group called The Flirtations and sang on their track “Read All About It”, which also led her to tour Europe with the group. Throughout her career, Millicent has performed at famous venues in the UK, like the O2 Indigo and Camden Jazz Cafe, and even appeared on the popular show Top of The Pops. In the 90s, she released a soulful song in Italy that received a great response.
