Songwriter & Producer Shawn Camfield
The Early Years
Growing up on the East Side of Houston, Shawn Camfield’s musical journey began at age 12 with a guitar, igniting a passion that led him to become a remarkable guitarist, songwriter, and producer. At age 15, he was already crafting original songs and performing locally.
In 1999, he joined the Matt Mead Band as lead guitarist and co-songwriter, resulting in their debut album “Paradise” in 2004, produced by the legendary Mike McClure, who was recently inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
In 2007, Shawn’s journey took another exciting twist as he joined the Still Standin Band. Here, he wore multiple hats, not only as a lead guitarist but also as a singer and co-writer. The band set their sights high and recorded their first major album at the renowned Rosewood Studios, produced by Shayne Morrison of the Nashville Recording artists, Perfect Stranger.
Founding a record company
Venturing further, Shawn founded Lucky Duck Records and The Orange Ford Studio in 2009. Over the next seven years, he produced diverse talents including Hunter McKithan and the Offenders, David Grace, Devin Sharp, Andrew Wade, and Ryan Lee Evans just to name a few.
2010 marked pivotal collaborations with Hunter McKithan & The Offenders and David Grace, displaying Shawn’s versatility in musical styles. Hunter McKithan & The Offenders third release entitled “Not Broken Yet” was produced and recorded by Mike McClure at his Oklahoma studio, the Boohatch. David Grace’s third release entitled “I’m Gonna Roll” was produced and recorded by Ken Tondre at his studio The Compound in Austin, TX.
Yet, life had more in store for Shawn. Amid producing, he toured the U.S. as lead guitarist for David Grace. But in 2012, he made the courageous decision to step away from the live music world to focus on the most important role of all – being a good dad.
2023 For Shawn Camfield
Fast forward to 2023, he unveils his lost records, “Permission to Land” and “Mixtape”, from The Orange Ford alongside “Apt 913” and “Megaphone (EP)”. Shawn’s genre-defying blend of Singer/Songwriter, Country, and Rock transcends boundaries, resonating with a wide audience.
From a young boy’s guitar strums to a seasoned artist’s compositions, Shawn Camfield’s journey echoes a tale of unwavering passion, resilience, and the enduring power of music. It took him through the highs and lows of the music industry, but it’s a story that continues to inspire. Stay tuned.
